In its ongoing expansion of UK property holdings, Frasers Group has recently acquired the Frenchgate Shopping Centre in Doncaster. Spanning 770,000 square feet and attracting more than 16 million visitors annually, this shopping hub in the heart of the town features popular retailers like Next, H&M, and TK Maxx aswell as high street estate agents.

With this new acquisition, Frasers Group plans to significantly enlarge its Sports Direct store to over 35,000 square feet and introduce additional brands such as USC, Game, and Evans Cycles. CEO Michael Murray emphasized the company's dedication to bolstering its physical retail presence, particularly in prime locations that offer growth opportunities for its various retail and leisure brands.

Murray stated, "Our purchase of Frenchgate Shopping Centre in Doncaster underscores our firm commitment to investing in brick-and-mortar establishments. By acquiring properties in strategic retail destinations, we aim to unlock new prospects for our diverse portfolio of businesses, including Sports Direct, Everlast Gyms, Frasers, and Flannels. We are focused on revolutionizing the retail sector and revitalizing high streets throughout the UK to deliver top-notch brands, ambiance, and experiences to customers nationwide."

In addition to the Frenchgate acquisition, Frasers Group is reportedly exploring the potential purchase of the Meadowhall shopping center in Sheffield aswell as the Princesshay shopping centre in Exeter, currently owned by a joint venture between Nuveen, a US-based asset manager, and the Crown Estate. Earlier this year, Nuveen placed its 50% stake in the development on the market, with an estimated price tag of £40 million.
