Pieces of Our Past; President of the Rotary Club of Doncaster
Danum House Clearance recoverd this very interesting piece of local history from a house clearance in Bessecar in November 2023 the property was a large four bed detchaed house and we carried out the clearance on behalf of a local property investor who instructed us to clear the site in preperation for him selling the house through a property auction.
There was a number of items recoverd from the property clearance and a few of them related to the Rotary Club Of Doncaster the most interesting of these was a medal that seems to have been awarded to a gentalman named Douglas Black, the medal reads "Douglas Black, President, Rotary Club of Doncaster 1978-1979.
We have actually done a little research and cannot find out much information on this particular Douglas Black of Doncaster as we would love to re unite him or his immediate family with the medal, but we cant find much information on him. We do know that Rotary Club Medals in general or quite common and dont hold much of a cash value, the harris fellows medal is normaly considered the highest award but even these medals can be purchased for not aloy of money from auction houses and even eBay quite easily. We would love to hear if anyone has any interseting information on the item was a member of the club or on the subject in general.
If anyone has any information that could help or maybe even knows a Douglas or a close relative please dont hesitate to get intouch with the Danum House Clearance team today by filling out the contat form or calling us on the House Clearance Hotline
