Regional Property News; Collapse of Doncaster based property development company
Following the collapse of a property development company in Doncaster city centre, receivers have been brought in. Empire Property Concepts, formerly known as MCIOD Limited and owned by Paul Rothwell of the Rothwells fish and chip shop family, has gone into administration leaving behind debts of over £500,000 to suppliers and subcontractors.
The company was also involved in a £125m residential tower project called The Vision in Manchester city centre, where Mr. Rothwell was the sole director of Vision Manchester. Additionally, he was behind the Featherfoot Globe project in Bolton which aimed to transform the historic Globe Works into residential blocks, but has now come to a standstill.
Earlier this year, joint administrators were appointed to handle the situation. In a past interview, Mr. Rothwell shared his journey in the property industry, starting with buying a house while studying at Nottingham University and eventually expanding into property development in South Yorkshire. He spoke about his successes, including the Danum House project which converted a former Co-op building into 72 flats.
Despite the recent challenges, Mr. Rothwell expressed his desire to continue contributing to the redevelopment of town centres, hinting at future projects similar in scale to Danum House.
